How to Remotely access your PC from your smartphone

Well, there is a way to gain access to your PC via the Internet using the Remote Desktop Protocol or RDP. But this involves setting up a live IP address, which is visible all around the world. You can possibly do this for home, but what about your office PC, which is behind a firewall or a proxy server? You would not be able to gain access as easily. In this workshop, we shall show you how simple it is to gain access to your PC at home or office from your Android smartphone or tablet as well as the iPhone or the iPad. All you need is an internet-enabled device with a free-to-use app called TeamViewer. Configuring TeamViewer is easy and you can get it working in a matter of minutes. At the same time, the utility is safe and secure. Once you have your setup working, you can also connect to your desktop PC from any Internet cybercafé using the Web login.

TeamViewer is an all-in-one solution for remote access over the Internet. It is free for personal use and is compatible with desktop operating systems such as Windows, Mac, Linux and also with mobile operating systems such as Android and iOS. Download TeamViewer for your desktop PC from www.teamviewer.com. We recommend the portable version which can be run from a USB drive or a CD. The app for the smartphone and tablets can be downloaded from their respective online app stores.

Nokia Lumina 800 Review

It was a long wait for the first Nokia smartphone with Windows Phone OS. And we believe that wait has been a long but successful one. The Lumia 800 seems to be a well designed package - with looks far superior than any other WP phone out there, an excellent display, good battery life and a UI that is thrashing Android’s ageing UI hands down. Critically, it again boils down to the pricing bit, and we hope Nokia gets it right.

Pros
  • Unique yet brilliant design
  • Classy yet solid build quality
  • Excellent UI on WP 7.5 - Live Tiles particularly
  • Very good display - particularly for multimedia consumption
  • Contact handling much improved with Mango update
  • Battery life doesn't disappoint

Cons
  • Call clarity isn't as good as we had hoped for
  • Accessing the micro SIM slot is an unnecessarily long process
  • Disappointing camera
Look & Feel
The Lumia 800 does carry a lot of design traits from the N9. All the four edges are curved, and the back is slightly sloped near the top and the bottom - ever so slightly. Below the 3.7-inch display are three touch buttons - return, home (familiar Windows Logo on it) and Bing search. The only three physical buttons on the entire handset are on the right side panel - volume rocker, camera and the power key.

Defragmenting your Registry – Is it necessary?

Your registry is basically the central nervous system of your computer. It stores everything you do, everywhere you go and everything you install as an entry. This massive database can become cluttered, corrupt or bloated over time and cause your system to run slow, lock up and even shut down.

You should defrag your system regularly to avoid any issues, but if you do see warning signs they should not be ignored and be given the proper attention immediately. Defragment will increase your storage and create a more organized database system and reduce data processing time. You will notice that your system is running faster, programs run smoother and overall your system performs better.

The registry can be more difficult to deal with, there is no simple tool to clean it out, you have to download a registry cleaner or try to do it manually line for line. Cleaning your registry manually is not recommended as it creates a risk of altering a program or even your operating system to a level that it is unstable or unworkable.

If you encountered Malware such as Spyware, Adware, Trojans or any viruses your registry may store them even if you think they have been deleted. This malicious software can create havoc on your system and may even cause it to stop working all together.

So, using the Defrag tool at least once a week will help to maintain your system.
